This fits for me - I had SIBO hydrogen & methane - I refused the antibiotics bc of antibiotic sensitivities and instead worked on terrain with gut supports including high doses of butyrate (my butyrate was low on testing but low fodmaps is low fiber) and over time this shifted the terrain. It took longer but was the longer term fix. However what messed up my terrain was years of hidden toxic mold and SIBO showed up after I was out of mold and body started to detox and detox happens through the gut. No gut symptoms till detox started and my hives and mcas showed up soon after - those mast cells letting me know about what they thought about what I was detoxing. I’ve since healed that gut and the reactions have stopped. I’m wondering how subclinical B1 deficiency plays a role here too. B1 so important for ATP, glutathione recycling AND gut motility.
